ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I am inspired by the wild world of nature with its mix of color and shapes. My work explores personal perception, place, and presence in the moment, portraying the inter-dependencies of life that nourish my soul.
Art is my expression: to explore and challenge myself, to claim my whole self. I view the world as interconnected and community based, and my work sinks roots into this understanding. My creations explore both the personal and the collective psyche, as we do not work in a void. This interdependency of life is represented by shapes, color, and mark-making.
I work with mixed media including watercolor, acrylic, encaustic, collage, photography and pastel. Simplification of shapes to their essential elements is a core component of my style, connecting the viewer emotionally with the delicate web of life.
